At a time when the world requires purposeful leadership, Zarine Manchanda is a pioneer whose life trajectory is inspirational as well as revolutionary. Zarine was born in a family where leadership and public service were valued, brought up in the serene and spiritually culturally rich region near Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. As the daughter of a well-established minister and successful businessman, Zarine was brought up with a strong work ethic and motivation. Her upbringing, which was near the Dalai Lama’s residence, was mixed with political awareness and a solid spiritual base; this blend would later define her leadership style and brand.
Zarine was from a wealthy family, but her journey has never been conventional in any sense. With dreams of achieving success in the glamorous world of cinema, she moved to Mumbai upon completing her education. She had a very tough time entering the show business, however, like most other aspirants. Zarine turned back and discovered her true calling rather than allowing these challenges to overcome her. She shifted from pursuing the spotlight to being a power house behind it since she was intent on making a lasting impact.
She founded the Zarine Manchanda Foundation in 2019, a registered nonprofit organization committed to serving the most underprivileged neighborhoods of Mumbai, focusing mainly on the sprawling Aarey Colony. In spite of the cataclysmic impact of COVID-19, her foundation organized over 500 food and clothing drive initiatives within two years. The Foundation was the most respected grassroots Mumbai NGO in terms of size, efficiency, and sympathy. Because of her hard work in assisting the needy, Indian media fondly dubbed Zarine the “Princess of the Poor.”
Zarine’s philanthropic and business activities were only just beginning, though. Zarine began the Zarine Manchanda Café, a unique hospitality endeavor that invented the “7-Star Café Experience” in India, after realizing the potential of fusing luxury and spirituality. In keeping with Zarine’s Himalayan heritage, the café in the center of Mumbai offers lavish furnishings, elegant tableware, and a special spiritual touch: blessings are given to guests while Tibetan bells ring. Her own interior design firm, Zarine Manchanda Interiors, designed the lavish ambiance of the café, which has received accolades for redefining the café experience.
Zarine was not satisfied with having just one successful business, so she diversified her brand portfolio further to cover Heavenly Flavours, a seven-star cloud kitchen and gourmet food delivery business. She also ventured into a traditionally male-dominated sector by being the sole female entrepreneur in India to have Zarine Manchanda Premium Security Services, a security services firm. This remarkable achievement testifies to her daring and adaptability as a young business executive.
She fortified the cultural identity of her brand with the opening in 2023 of Flavours of the Himachal Pradesh, Mumbai’s first upscale Himachali restaurant. The dham, a classic vegetarian thali that is prepared over two days and traditionally served at Himachal’s celebratory events, is the highlight of the menu. With the assistance of chefs from her native state, Zarine has managed to infuse one of the world’s most congested cities with the spirit and authenticity of Himachali food.
Zarine’s work has been noticed. She has been awarded one of the 45 Most Influential Indians in 2020 by India Today, was on the cover of Femina, and named among Femina’s Fabulous 50 Women. The Times of India, The Economic Times, and Midday Magazine have all commended her and honored her with the Power Woman Award. The Nelson Mandela Peace Award, accompanied by a doctorate degree in recognition of her humanitarian contribution, and two Governor Awards from Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari for her philanthropic achievements were bestowed upon her in 2021 alone.
Zarine is a glamorous and fashionable woman who has made a name for herself in the fashion world. She proved that substance and fashion do not go together because she walked the ramp as a Showstopper twice at two high-profile Bombay Times Fashion Week Galas held in December 2020 and October 2021.
What is unique to Zarine is how she effortlessly weaves business acumen, spiritual beauty, and activist roots. She has built an original market where entrepreneurship is more than a means of generating revenue. While financially successful, her work strives for a greater purpose: to uplift, empower, and inspire.
As her reputation increased, so did her stature. She was appointed Regional Director for BRICS (Mumbai) by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2021, showing her rising visibility in the areas of geopolitics and economic growth. The BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) coalition plays a significant role in determining global economic policies. The visibility of Zarine’s work as an active executive and thought leader is evidenced by the appointment.
She was made Chairperson and Editor-in-Chief of National Council of News & Broadcasting’s Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, and Goa branch in 2023. In this role, she advocates for social justice, media reform, and press freedom, expanding her impact further into yet another key sector.
Zarine has an established background in service and innovation, and she is now preparing to do what is perhaps her most ambitious to-date: politics. She officially founded the Zarine Manchanda People’s Party in 2024 and is now contesting elections in Mumbai’s Andheri West constituency. Urban development, poverty reduction, and social justice form the pillars of her political platform. Zarine boasts an impressive record of effective programs, grassroots influence, and a well-defined vision for Mumbai’s future, distinguishing her from many first-time political candidates.
Mother Teresa and Princess Diana, two women whose generosity changed the world, are often referred to by Zarine as her role models throughout her life. Zarine’s journey is the embodiment of both icons in numerous aspects. She has, similar to Diana, brought into focus those who are in need with her media exposure and social stature. Like Mother Teresa, she has prioritized assisting the underprivileged as the central theme of her career.
Zarine Manchanda, a Renaissance woman not by category but by nature, is among the most powerful female leaders of our era as we near 2025. Zarine’s leadership is founded on a singular and effective combination of empathy, style, and execution, whether she is creating luxurious hospitality experiences, feeding the hungry, or running for political office.
Zarine Manchanda shows that the future is for those who bring together all of it and lead with heart in a world that often separates glitz from grit or compassion from capitalism.
